How We Coach
- Assessment/Diagnostics and Data Gathering: Initial
assessments vary depending on the needs of the
client. Our assessment methodologies include:
- 1 on 1 interviews with direct reports, peers, clients
- Shadowing
- 360 degree feedback
- Coaching Style: Urs' coaching
is structured and results oriented. Together you
and Urs focus on taking action and achieving measurable
results. Clarifying vision and values are hugely
important, but they remain worthless if the client
does not act on the insights. Urs believes in taking
steps every week.
- Long and Short Term Goals: Together you begin
by clearly identifying your long term goals (such as "in
three years I want to grow my business to $10m in revenue while
taking one full day off work every week" or "in two
years, I want my business to achieve a profit margin of 25 percent").
Urs uses different proven coaching methodologies to achieve
this. Together, you then break your long term goals down into
short term goals and milestones (such as "in three months
I want to have a written marketing plan which will guide my
growth over the next 12 months" or "in four months
I want to cut my business expenses by 25 percent") and
design an action plan to get you where you want to be.
- Ongoing Support: Urs stays with you and supports
you through the implementation of your action plan. We both
expect a lot from you and will keep you accountable for the
weekly milestones you set. Urs' coaching style stimulates, challenges
and motivates you to be the best you can be. When the going
gets tough and the chips are down, he will provide you with
strong encouragement and support.
- Face-to-face and over the phone: Urs' coaching
is conducted face-to-face and over the phone. Many people are
doubtful about the effectiveness of phone coaching until they
have experienced it. The phone can be the perfect vehicle for
coaching as external distractions are minimized. The phone is
also highly cost effective in terms of money and time. Both
Urs and his clients travel a lot. Coaching over the phone means
that you can connect no matter where you are.
- Weekly or bi-weekly: Urs meets his clients
weekly or bi-weekly. Phone calls last for up to 45 minutes and
face-to-face meetings up to 60 minutes. Each meeting or call
starts with a recap of the week, with milestones and goals achieved
and obstacles identified. The session then follows the path
which best suits the client. In addition, clients often call
and e-mail Urs between their regular calls and meetings.
